There is an interesting article in Time magazine (June 24)
entitled "Faith & Healing". It shows that doctors are getting
interested in meditation and other Eastern mystical practices
as a means of cure. Some fo the findings are:
***Amongst 232 heart surgery patients, those who drew
comfort from religious faith had three times better survival
rates than those who did not.
***Those who attended church regularly had half the risk of
dying from coronary artery disease.
***Amongst patients recovering form hip surgery, those who
were religious minded did better.
***Religiously committed persons have lower depression
and anxiety-related illness.
The story has also a special and long item on Dr Deepak
Chopra.
Namaste.
