India leader favours reservation for muslims.

Patna, June 19 (PTI) The union minister of state for
home, Mr Taslimuddin, today favoured reservation for the
muslims in government jobs, but suggested application of the
principle of creamy layer to deny the benefit to the affluent
sections of the community.
''I support the demand for job reservation for the Dalit
Christians, but then even the muslims have a strong case
because of their socio-economic status'', he told reporters
here.
Expressing satisfaction over the representation of the
minorities in central security forces, the minister called for
their greater representation in the police force of the
states.
The minister denied having said that criminal cases would
be filed afresh against those responsible for bringing down
the disputed structure at ayodhya and added that he had been
misquoted by the press.
''All I have said is that anyone who was responsible for
the unfortunate happenings at Ayodhya and has not been
prosecuted would be brought to justice,'' he said.
Mr Taslimuddin said communal tension in the country had
eased over the past two years and reaffirmed the government's
commitment to deal firmly with those whipping communal
passions for political gains.
