Waheguru ji ki Fateh.

Could someone please refer me to some decent books on the meaning behind 
the mainly Punjabi practises of Raksha Bandhan and Lohri. Very often I am 
given a brief description of the ceremonies, but not of their meaning and 
real significance. I would especially like to know why they are held on 
certain days.
