Think hard for a second and consider this - the example I gave was as
nontraditional as I could get because the people involved were
a) non-Indian
b) punk
c) gay
Also realize that _I'm_ not the one claiming that "all members of
group X are Hindus". So, I don't have to be exhaustive - I just have
to give an appropriate counterexample, and I did.
Of course, none of you responded.
The reason I picked Shaivites, and not Vaishnavites, is that the
presence of serious non-Indian Shaivites is significantly less
well-known.

I would say no, since he engaged in sexual activities and drug use
(which is not in accordance with scripture).

I'm not the one going around claiming that everyone and their mothers
are Hindu, but you apparently are, so I'll leave it to you to decide
if Ginsberg was or was not Hindu. Was he?
>c. vaishnava but not Hindu?
I don't consider him a Vaishnava, so the answer is an automatic no.

Mind-reading again? Besides, it's easy for the Hindutva brigade to
declare that a bunch of nice, clean folk are Hindus. I want to see
what their reaction is when the people in question aren't so "nice and
clean". Apparently, their reaction is to start calling me names.

Your point is what? The people I mentioned are harder to determine
because their punk lifestyle is an extra point beyond Ginsberg's
beatnik lifestyle, in the eyes of most traditional Hindus. Note that
months after I asked the question, you _still_ haven't answered the
question - are they Hindu?

I think you are an interesting amusement, since you take it upon
yourself to try to track others down and put words in their mouths
even after you've declared the end of your participation on threads.

I'll wait, thanks.

Gosh, if only you would have the courtesy to treat my statements
accurately, rather than trying to place your own spin on them. If you
and sns are so offended by the presence of gay people who claim to
worship Shiva in lingam form that you need to try to smear me for
mentioning their existence, I feel sorry for you.
