REQUEST : Volunteer to Discuss Hindu Literature on IRC

Hello,

My name is Dave Schwartz, a cofounder of Seed House, an interfaith,
inter-ideological study group. I am writing to request a volunteer to
spend an hour discussing the sacred literature of India on IRC (Internet
Relay Chat).

I know; some people spend their lives studying their holy texts, so there
is no way we will become experts in an hour. Seed House has undertaken to
give at least a first introduction to the sacred texts of the world, texts
which we have certainly heard about, but with which we have had no contact
and, therefore, no understanding. Thus far, we have had persons present
the _Zohar_, Swedenborg's _Heaven and Hell_, and other texts regarded as
holy, sacred, or at least important by some. We have planned conferences
on the Qur'an, Talmud, the Heart Sutra, and New Testament. We believe, as
I'm sure you will agree, that the Upanishads and the Gita are important.

In our conferences, a core group of attendees meet and hear a 45 minute
discussion of the salient features of a body of literature, a particular
text, a passage, or whatever the presenter chooses to talk about.
Afterwards, questions are asked. We have done this in two ways: either
opening the floor to questions or, if you prefer, having one of the
operatives of Seed House ask prearranged questions.

If anyone is interested in speaking to us about Hindu literature, please
contact me and we can arrange a convenient date for your presentation.

Thank you,

Dave Schwartz
