Actually, it's spawned far more questions than people are apparently
willing to answer. How's that for intellectual discussion?
However, more to the point of this post - Fascist tendencies have most
definitely been encouraged by people who have called themselves Hindu,
and a look at India in the past few years will easily confirm this.
However, it's been good to see that a large number of Hindus have
opposed such fascists.
The real question, then, is why do people like you get so upset when
it's stated that there might be Vaishnavas who are not Hindus? After
all, it seems very fascist to force labels upon people who they
haven't asked for them, doesn't it? More importantly, when Vaishnavas
like Haridas Thakur were denied entry into temples because they were
not Hindu, then doesn't it seem a bit hypocritical to say now that
they were? Even today, a non-Indian Vaishnava is not allowed into some
temples in India.
Why don't we agree to this - if there are Vishnu-worshippers who say
that they are Hindu (as I do), then they are Hindu. However, if there
are Vishnu-worshippers (or anyone other worshipper) who do not call
themselves Hindu, then don't force it upon them. That seems
reasonable, doesn't it?
I've been called non-Hindu because I don't support the move to label
as Hindu everyone who worships Vishnu. Calling me non-Hindu seems
pretty fascist, does it not?
