Having looked at some of the marriage announcements by Hindus that are
available through other sources, I note that some of them (especially
the electronic ones) aren't for vegetarians, teetotalers, and prudes
(and I use the term in a non-perjorative manner). Assuming that people
want to see matrimonials, would these ads be accepted? I ask because I
know some Hindu organizations do not allow their names to be used in
conjunction with events including alcohol or meat-eating.

More interestingly, I note that there are gay South Asian associations
(Trikone and Salga being two, but more exist, I'm sure). Assuming that
Hawaii does decide to allow gay marriages, would matrimonials of the
form "gay Hindu man seeks same" be allowed? Even if Hawaii doesn't, as
long as some country allows it (and I believe that some Northern
European country does), then shouldn't they be allowed on the basis
that Usenet is a global medium?

If gay matrimonials would not be allowed because they offend the
sensibility of some portion of the population, then would inter-caste
matrimonials be allowed? How about matrimonials from Caucasian Hindu
men seeking Indian Hindu women?

Oh yes, and finally, there is the whole issue of anonymity and
forgery, and many matrimonial ads use pseudonymous remailers, such as
anon.penet.fi. Would such anonymous/pseudonymous contact services be
allowed?

Needless to say, I think that there are a whole host of questions
which should be answered before matrimonials are allowed on
SRH. However, I personally don't see why they should be allowed on SRH
at all, since they don't have anything to do with the religion.
