I think that when you attribute the blame on "VHP crowd" (whatever that
means) there has to be a direct linkage between VHP and the person writing
the article.
To my (limited knowledge), no such linkage exists, so accusing VHP or
VHP-crowd for some article by a syndicated author in a non-VHP owned
newspaper is somewhat questionable.
Now if the author was at least active in VHP activities even without being
a member of VHP, and then "VHP crowd" is blamed for his/her statement it
would at least have some basis. Again, I have never seen any newspaper
report in which Swapan Das Gupta is noted as being active in VHP.

Agree completely. And I would add, why blame VHP for what Swapan Das Gupta
writes? Let us assign the blame where it belongs.
My sincere hope is that after such a monumental tragedy, the government
and private organizations will come together and ensure that the
yatra-routes, and yatra-dhams are safer for the yatries.
