Mani, have you or any other Indian checked it out (or American who has a
regular Dharmic practice)? It might be worth looking into.
Books that reputable universities sell are usually either very good or
quite bad. I god a copy of the Gita from the University of Pennsylvania.
On the left page is the sanskrit on the right is the English; I was
satisfied. The Indians I worked with were also said it was "a good
translation".
Other books are so tied up with opinion and commentary their real value is
questionable.
Usually just thumbing though a book and reading a few paragraphs or pages
is good enough to make an adequate assessment.
