Janmashtami Is Being Celebrated
Today With Religious Fervour
A.I.R., September 5, 1996
Janmashtami is being celebrated today with religious
fervour. Janmashtami is being celebrated in several
parts of the country today.
The President and the Prime Minister have greeted the
people on the occasion. In separate messages they said,
Lord Krishna symbolises the eternal values of truth,
virtue and righteousness and these will guide the
people to happiness in life.
In Uttar Pradesh, elaborate security arrangements have
been made to celebrate Janmashtami at the birth place of
Lord Krishna at Mathura. A large number of devotees are
thronging various shrines in Mathura and Vrindavan. In
Garhwal Division and in Himachal Pradesh, Janmashtami
was celebrated yesterday.
