You cannot do anything nor you should contemplate of doing anything about the
alleged desecration of the Hindu temples in Pakistan. Whatever the people in
Pakistan are doing (if they are so doing) it is because of their religious
heritage. To destroy or defile the places of worship of other religions,
to burn the books of "non-believers", "kafirs", and "infidels", and to
wage a continuous jihad ('holy war') against the non-Muslim
peoples and communities have been firmly ingrained in the minds
by the Arab priests of Mecca. This process, in fact, was
started right in Mecca by the Prophet himself when he cleared
Kaba of all the gods but Allah. In due course, all other temples in Arabia
and the Middle East were razed to the ground. The Muslims world
cannot act or behave differently.
This Muslim behavior, however, does not warrant that the Hindus in India or
elsewhere follow this course. A Hindu does not worship any
particular god, but the Divinity that resides in god itself. The Divinity has
no specific form or shape and It favors no specific place to reside. That
explains why the Hindu have never resorted to defiling or destroying the places
of worships of other religions. The destruction of the Babri Masjid is perhaps
the only example during 1,000 years of Muslim presence in India. And, that's
too because of the unfortunate political circumstances. A big majority of the
Hindus condemned this wanton act more vehemently than even the Indian Muslims.
The Hindus are not the victims of any curse from the heavens. They suffered
because of their inertia and internal weaknesses. Such a fate does fall on many
nations or peoples, especially if they have a long history like India.
Look around and tell yourself how many civilizations are still alive and well
whose dates go as far back as of the Vedas. You will find none bar China.
When Alexander of Macedonia was crossing the Indus River, India her
civilization were already over 3,000 years old. Christ and his followers
were still to wait some 400 years for their show. Mohammed and the Muslims
came on the scene yet a few centuries later.
Look at what has happened to the temples of David and Solomon of
Israel, Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Greeks,
Romans, Mayas, Incas and the Pharaohs to name the few. Even the Muslim world
has now been suffering humiliation now for three to four centuries with no end
yet in sight.
In contrast, India and the Hindus are breathing a new life. It is a vibrant
polity and a society. Hinduism is undergoing a revival on a proportion never
witnessed before. The process began in the closing years of the eighteenth
century and our children will see the fruits in the next century.
Destruction and desecration of temples will not earn the Muslims any laurels
in this world or the heaven.
Despondency seeps vitality of an Individual as well a nation. Don't give
heart to it.
