Title : Proselytisers masquerade as tourists

Tourists from world over are drawn to India for its Tai Mahal.
Ajanta-Ellora, Konark temple, etc. The Government of India has issued a map
depicting the Indian sites. of historic and mythological importance and where
ancient artefacts were found. The Government has also brought out a guide
book giving. particulars of various places of tourist interest in all corners
of the country with a view to promoting tourism in India. But there is no
mention either in the map or in the guide book of Alewadi and Malkapur
townships in the Buldhana district of Vidarbha nor of any such places in the
Osmanabad district in Marathwada. In the Sholapur district there are
Nagnunsar and Kemalar which are hardly known even in other parts of
Maharashtra, what to speak of the rest of India,

But curiously enough batches of not twos or fours but groups of over a dozen
foreigners, ostensibly with tourist interest, flock to these obscure places
and stay there for weeks, before returning to their respective countries.
When they were asked what so attractive or of tourist interest was in
Vidarbha and Marathwada. As the weather of the area is hot how can these
so-called tourists coming from cold climates tolerate this climate so long?
Their reply was that these sites were not chosen by them; they were simply
ordered to go there, and they went there. Their purpose in going there was
only tabligh (proselytisation). Tabligh means spread of one's religion
(Islam), the work of the missionaries. When it was pointed out to them that
they went to these places and lodged themselves in mosques, as several staved
in big mosque at Kamti, and that there was no point in trying to spread Islam
in mosques where only followers of - Islam congregate. they promptly came out
with the reply, "No, no! We need not propagate Islam among its followers. We
instil the true spirit of Islam in them to make them true and staunch
Mussalmans."

What actually these tourists do in their appointed areas may be detailed
later. But let us find how many of them had visited the remote Indian places
and for what periods, from January to September. Twenty-three batches of the
foreign tourists had visited Vidarbha and Marathwada during the nine months
of the last year. Visits of these batches in these regions, and in the name
of tourism to indulge in their nefarious activities has now become a common
occurrence. But the amazing and serious matter is that these foreigners are
continuing their usual objectionable activities with the same force and in
the same measure as they were doing during the reign of the Congress
Government. The frequency, extent and strength of their intentions and
activities has not yet diminished since the formation of the Shiv
Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party Government in the State.

In January a batch of eight proselytisers entered Malkapur in Vidarbha. Four
of them were from Singapore and four others from Britain. On January 6, a
week-long 'religious' gathering (ijtimaa) was held at Alewadi in the Buldhana
district. The leader of that batch, Abdul Gaffar, was from Singapore, who was
assisted by three engineers, two students, and two merchants, Another batch
visiting some places in Vidarbha between 15 and 28 January, had eight
Malaysians and five Indonesians. Its leader was a Malaysian, Mohammed Hasan.
This batch visited Nagpur, Chandrapur and Wardha. Between 18 and 23 January a
six-member group led by an American, Abdul Wali, visited some places in
Osmanabad. He was assisted by four fellow Americans and a Canadian. They
also visited Sholapur on the 23rd and then returned to Delhi on the 20th.
Another batch of four Americans and a Canadian, led by an American Amir
Hamza, visited Akola and Buldhana and indulged in luring people into Islam.
An eight-member group of three This, four Indonesians and their leader Noor
Husain a Malaysian visited Nagpur from Jan. 1 to Jan. 15. After "touring"
other nearer, places it returned to Delhi on January 25. Another group
visiting Nagpur about the same time, comprising 11 Moroccans one Algerian and
one Frenchman, and led by a Moroccan Abed Abdul Rehman, proceeded from Nagpur
to Bhilai and then they staved at the big mosque of Kamti.

A ten-member batch arrived on March 5 and stayed at Chandrapur from 6 to 24
March. Led by a South African. Ismail Sonde, the team had seven South
Africans and one Bangladeshi. The team returned to Delhi. Another batch of
13 including 10 South Africans and three Britons, reached Nanded where they
lodged themselves in the Mecca mosque. Led by a South African Rizban Pali
the party had been there for three months during which it visited Jalna,
Aurangabad and Parbhani.

Besides, several other groups, comprising religions preachers from America,
Britain, S. Africa, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Qatar, Saudi
Arab, Fiji, Zambia, etc., also visited the State during the first nine months
of the year with their sinister business of burrowing into strongholds of the
Hindu society.

Why Nagpur?

>From the exhaustive list, it is evident that most preachers are drawn to
Nagpur. Their tours involve places of Vidarbha and Marathwada. Mussalmans are
found in every district of the country. Then why have the tablighis
concentrated on the two districts of Maharashtra? When one investigates
deeply into it one is struck with the fact that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak
Sangh's headquarters is in Nagpur. Therefore these preachers arrive there to
monitor the RSS movements and to brainwash Muslims in Vidarbha into Islamic
fundamentalism. Vidarbha has a strong tribal population. They can be easily
lured into conversion to Islam. Buldhana district is witness to these
activities for the full year.

The Malkapur weekly Satyanishtha has raised its voice against the unlawful
activities of the aliens and had extensively reported their illegal
operations in Alewadi. But so far no action against these alien conversion
conmen seems to have been contemplated by the law enforcement agencies.
Buldhana Gazette and census figures show that the tribal population in the
area is fast dwindling and the Muslim population is burgeoning at an alarming
rate. The overall strategy of sabotage, bomb-blasts, riots, terrorism and
deliberate perpetration of crimes directed against Maharashtra State can have
no other haven better than Vidarbha and Marathwada. Before the advent of the
SS-BJP coalition rule the strategy, was already in operation without a focal
point. But since the SS-BJP take-over these alien agitators have got a focal
point of the Hindutva rule. But what is shocking and equally distressing is
that the administration too has no time to spare to show concern for the
insidious Islamic invasion. These alien agitators continue merrily to go
about their sinister business of burrowing into the strongholds of the Hindu
society. In recent times some politicians with evil designs deliberately
weakened the Hindu forces of Buldhana and Akola districts. Seriously hurting
the interests of those Hindu forces who have strengthened the society without
any concern for their own life or limb. This naturally has proved a godsend
to the aliens' evil intentions. The whole tract from Jaigaon Jamod tehsil in
the Buldhana district covering the Mel Ghat jungle extending to the Burhanpur
tehsil of Madhya Pradesh is a veritable powder keg and ticking like a time
bomb waiting for the remote signal of the alien activists. Its explosive
potential should be clear to anyone who has watched these foreign firebrands
scurrying in and out of this region.

Feigned official ignorance

Tourists are issued multiple-journey visa for three months. The foremost
condition of the tourist visa is the should travel in the country solely for
tourist purposes. But here the main condition is summarily ignored by these
foreigners whose main purpose in visiting this region is to convert the
simple and gullible tribals. The religious conmen freely and openly convert
tribals luring them with flimsy promises. This is clear and brazen breach of
the passport regulations. The central government's tacit encouragement to
such anti-national elements suits its policy of cultivating the Muslim
vote-bank and expansion of this vote-bank through conversion would certainly
be profitable to its election strategy. An impression is gaining ground that
even the Maharashtra government, the first to swear by Hindutva that takes
pride in its staunch nationalist creed is unbelievably unconcerned with and
impervious to the subversive activities of the Muslim foreigners. So much so
that no care is taken while the visa is granted to see whether these
subversive elements do actually visit places of tourist interest or whether
their activities are as harmless as made out in their applications. If the
State Government chooses it can obstruct the process of granting the visa,
and even after the grant of the visa it can be cancelled on discovery of
their activities being detrimental to the interests of the country. The
Police Commissioner of Sholapur and the Superintendent of Police of Nasik had
drawn the competent authorities' attention to this.

The local people of these districts very well know what activities these
foreign proselytisers indulge in. But they are silenced by the attitude of
the corrupt officials. Several people shout from house-tops about the
dwindling population of Hindus in Hindusthan. The tablighi invasion in
Maharashtra is of a similar origin as that of the Taliban invasion in
Afghanistan, and threatens destruction of the same proportions and it is a
stern warning to the State and the Central Government which if they do not
heed s fraught with dire consequences to both.
