"Form over substance " comes to mind. One thing, sha.nkarAchArya assumes is
knowledge of pUrva mimA.nsa and basic common sense. He is not interested in
giving comic book translations for Western educated audiences. Eg, quotes from
padma purANa which are not found in any extant version (sic) to make his
tradition authorized (sic).
