This is a rather odd occurance. Shiva is the attributive personification
of the nirguna [Skt. < without characteristics, ie. impersonal Godhead]
Brahman. Hearing of a prophet who heralds devotionalism as the key to
salvation requesting someone to turn to worshipping the impersonal aspect
of God is paradoxically strange.

That would be Advatic Vedanta, but the line is not as clear as it appears
to be.
