The radiant smile, the bright face, the saffron robes and
'tradandam' in hand are a familiar sight to the people of Andhra
Pradesh Thousands attend to his discourses and equally thousands
are devoted to his teachings across the globe. His holiness
Tridandi Srimannarayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami, very well known
Vaishnavite Sanyasi, called Jeeyar, commands considerable following
in South India. Propagating the essence of Vedas, Jeeyar swamiji
goes round the country and takes part in other welfare activities
when the governments are in calamitious situations. Known for his
strong opinions and clear thoughts Jeeyar Swamiji, monkhood at the
tender age of 22 years and mastered four Vedas and constantly
changed himself with the fast changing events around him. The
'Tridandam' being carried by Jeeyar swami is composed of three
split bamboox strips which represent nature, soul and god in an In
separable form.

Srimannaraya Ramanuja Jeeyar Swami, had spoken to The Observer of
Business and Politics, in an interview held in Nizamabad district
of Andhra Pradesh. The Swamiji had during the course of the
interview thrown light on some of burning topics like secularism,
growing caste differences and degrading morals In the society. He
also discussed his views about god, Mahavishnu, the Almighty. Some
of the excerpts from the interview.

RELIGION is basically to control the mind of person and see that It
does not get attracted towards bad things In the society.
Secularism means, beyond the influence of all religions and
socialism is to establish an egalitarian society. Some religions
are supressing other religions leading to violence. The government
should confine Itself to administration and rulling the state. The
government should never tamper with the usages and customs of the
people In different regions of the country and should respect the
living pattern and styles of the people. The government should see
that religions of everyone is respected and people should be
allowed to practise their religious habits and systems. A
government which Interfere in these matters is not a government at
all. The rulers who have faith in the concepts and beliefs the
people should rule the state. Even developed nations have great
faith In god and their leaders do not make along of god and
religion in elections and never make any political Issue. Our
political leaders should emulate them and it would avoid all
problems. In the name of secularism our. leaders are supressing the
religious faiths of people and encouraging minorities for their
electoral benefits. Now secularism has lost its route and moving
in an orbit, which it should not. These leaders do not know the
real meaning of secularism. The aim of the government is to promote
and encourage the moral values in the society. Let a christian be
allowed live a real christian. Let a Muslim be allowed to live like
a real Muslim and let a believer in vedas be allowed to live like a
real vedic. This distinction of minority and majority are utterly
wrong.

In a democracy, we can change the caste but not religion. You know
an hybrid flower does not last long and does not look attractive.
In a society like us, there Is no need for giving such a great
importance to caste and religion, it is not needed for the society.
But for an individual the caste system is needed. that too within
the four walls of the house. The present system of caste
reservations is affecting the productivity in the country. We have
forgotten the margins, limits and boundaries of caste system. The
politicians are dividing the society into sects for votes and this
concept is not good for the country. Unfortunately it came into
our electoral system and it is a big mistake in our constitution.
The electoral process is not healthy in the present democracy. The
people who are preaching casteless society are giving just slogans.
The caste system has even reached to the LKG level. If government
is serious, there is an easy method to rootout this. There should
be no caste column in the applications at the school revel, If the
government is serious, let them stand on this. My god caste is on
everybody's lips.

Everyman is drawing towards materialism and it is basically
effecting the moral values in the society. Human to human relations
are no longer there and work ethics badly destroyed. There are no
moral standards and no fear of government. There should be fear of
law.

The gurus and acahryas can control and to some extent influence the
customs and traditions of the people, but the government should
protect them. When the government itself is corrupt, what can we
do. The authors of the constitution have incorporated personal
grudges while writing the constitution, resulting in widespread
corruption everywhere. The constitution needs radical changes. Our
leaders have become worst than British rulers. the concept of the
family should be extend to whole world.

I do no agree with the Dravidian movement, it is a movement, it is
a British concept and unfortunately we are owning it up. There is
nothing like Hinduism. It should be called 'bharatiyata' or vedic
civilisation, which is universal. The so-called dalit movement is
based on dravidism. The dalit movement was not started with a
social objective and foresight and it was started with preconceived
ideas. These people do not know what 'manu' had said or preached.
Before criticising anything, they should do a thorough study of the
matter and then criticise. If you are anti god, first you study
about the god. Its is not proper to condemn anything without
knowing. They well get the fruits of it. They should understand
what manuvada is, it is all started with emotion.

Jeeyar said that goddess Gayatri, was not a female god as it is
perceived by everyone. It is not a lady but a metre (like a metre
in poetry) by chanting the gayatri mantra, we are invoking the
'shakti' in the sun, he said. Vedas say that Lord Mahavishnu is the
god of gods and supremo and all gods were created by him for
various purpose, the Jeeyar Swami said.

There are million demigods and we should not show any disrespect
towards them, he said. Jeeyar Swami categorically stated that
'Lalitha Sahashranamam', was not sanctified by the vedas. It is a
later creation and there is no mention of that in either puranas or
upapuranas he said.

His holiness Tridandi Srimannarayana Jeeyar Swami disclosed that
Saraswathi valley civilisation was much older than roman
civilisation. He said that indus valley civilisation. Aryan
civilisation and dravidian culture etc were nothing but a creation
of Britishers. He felt that romans never accepted the existence of
any other civilisation before coming into being of roman
civilisation. They destroyed other civilisations and created
feeling that Indus valley civilisation was dated to 2500 BC.

Jeeyar Swami argued that before Indus Valley and even before Roman
Civilisation Saraswathi Valley civilisation had existed which is
10,000 BC. He also disclosed that Sanskrit was the oldest language
in the world which was created by panini. The Dravid language was a
creation by sage agastha and it was a later addition to the
languages.
