I beg to differ. Most of the Hindu's _are_ polytheists. Eg, advaitins
are polytheists at the day-to-day level. So are most other Hindus.
Monotheism is restricted mainly to a few, mainly brahmanical or upper
caste sects like Madhvas, Iyengars etc.

Your interpretation of the veda-s may be monotheistic. However it is not
so for most others.
