There is a dangerous axis of Islamic Terrorism emerging in Indian
Subcontinent. Pakistan, Bangladesh and border towns of Nepal have become
strongholds of fundamentalist, heavily armed and anti-India Muslims. The
explosive situation in Kashmir is no secret. While this is true that
Hindu's should adopt a progressive approach, but at the same time we
should not forget the larger issues facing our religion, that burying
our face in sand will not eliminate the problem.
This is not to say that I agree to the views of Dr. Jai Maharaj. Many of
the Hindus, especially from poor sectors obtain there living from
processing leather. Banning all forms leathter will only worsen there
situation.
But at the same time, one should try to unite ourselves so that we can
effectively counter these threats by lobbying against them. There
strength lies in their unity and our weekness lies in the fragmentation
within our community.
