Prosperity for our Motherland!

PRESS REPORT

The week-long event, Sri Lalita Sahasra-naama Puja Saptaaha
at the Hindu Temple & Community Center, Sunnyvale, California
that was observed from August 3rd to 9th was concluded on Saturday
with prayers lead by Pandit Sri Gajanan Joshi for the everlasting
peace for the whole world, prosperity for our Motherland and
piety in the hearts of all people around the world.

"Especially during this golden jubilee year of independence," declared
Sri Joshi with the audience applauding, "our prayers are for India to be
blessed with harmony, peace and prosperity to lead again the whole world!"

In addition to the daily Puja to Sri Lalita, Sri Raja-rajeshwari and to
Sri Chakra under the stewardship of the Chief Priest Sri Gajanan
Joshi, there were speeches and musical concerts on each day.
Dr. Umamahesh Babu spoke on "Sri Mahalakshmi Ashtaka of
Padma-purana", Sri Hulikal Vishvanath on "Sri Annapurna Stotra
of Acharya Sri Shankara", Dr. Raghu Bai on "Sri Lakshmi Stuti of
Sri Yaamuna Acharya, Dr. M K Prabhakar on "Sri Lakshmi Stuti
of Jagannatha Dasa", Sri S K Harihareswara on "Sri Sukta of
Rigveda-khila" and on "Devi Sukta of Rigveda", and Sri Gajanan Joshi
on "the importance of worshiping Sri Lalita".

Smt Padmini Gupta, Smt. Parimala Muralidhar, Smt. Chitra
Ramabhadran & Smt Tangamani Nagarajan performed classical
music concerts of devotional songs.

A large number of women and men, about 300 each day,
participated in the mass worship of the Divine Mother. Volunteers
brought plenty of food every day and the 'prasaad' served was a
sumptuous dinner!

On Friday, one hundred and twenty women were honored by a Silk
Saree and a blouse piece given to each; about one hundred Silk blouse
pieces were presented to all teen-aged girls; and a booklet on Sri
Lakshmi was given as a gift to each participating family -
thanks for all the above to the generosity of Smt Neeladevi Biligiri of
'Panchavati' Restaurant, Sunnyvale.

On the concluding day, Sri Lalita Sahasra-naama Havana and Puja
were performed simultaneously, and Speakers and Musicians were
honored during the Award Ceremony. Sri Hulikal Vishvanath was
the Master of ceremonies and Sri S K Harihareswara thanked all
the participants and volunteers who made this unique event a success.
