1. Bindi is not a mark of slavery. The color and type of it is used
to distinguish between a married and unmarried woman.
In hindu socio-cultural system, irrespective of age and social status, the
place of married woman is has always been more respectful and higher than
an unmarried woman, although both woman are shown respect. This type of
distinction is essential in a closely knit society where on social or
public occasions, it becomes difficult that how to address woman in the
house or outside the house. In order to avoid any sort of misbehaviour
or teasing or hateful comments by ill minded people (like the one
who has commented wring about bindi) towards married woman,
it is supposed to remind such people that they do not have any right to
dishonor these women otherwise their husbans will take them on task. The
word slavery used for as an attack on the sentiments of Hindu people.
2. The use of bindi is part of their personal and bodily and
ornamental make up which adds to their beauty. It is the relative
outlook of man and woman in hindu society as they percieve and express
the beauty. Bindi certtainly does. If it were not so, then why the
women in west color their eye lashes with various strong colors which
otherwise in hindu culture will look misfit and uncomfortable, and then
same are appreciated by men in Western society and Christian religion.
In the same breath, can it not also be branded that coloring the eye
lashes or applying strong lipsticks is a sign of slavery & exploitation by
men in western society??
3. The people who do not know how to respect themselves, can never
respect others and can never earn respect from others. If they do not
have respect for, and knowledge about other religions, such myopic people
do not have any right to criticize any other religion also.
4. It is to remind again such distorted personalities that Buddhism
is an offshoot of Hinduism which in itself is a philosophy of life. As a
matter of fact, Buddhism is the latest way of interpretation of the same
Hinduism. It is very essential to know before we comment about any
religion that on this planet earth, it is the Hindu religion and
philosophy if life which is most open, liberal and dynamic and, which
permits its followers to retain the right of interpretation of preachings
and create your own way of knowing the God and worship him in your own way
depending upon the individual's intellect and ability to undestand the
philosophy of life, per say. So, the buddhism also came into existence for
the same reason, braught by the person who had to reinterpret the Hindu
philosophy for the betterment of the society, because at the time of
Buddha, the hindu society had accumulated lot of myths and greeds and
misconceptions over the period of time. It can be understood in the way
the protestants are different from catholics, but in the case Buddhism,
it is not in any way contrasting or antagonistic to Hiduism. These were
Westerners, who tried to separate, divide and distording facts about
everything of Hindu phylosophy. That is why Buddhism is seen as a
separate religion, which it is not.
The concept of third eye is not in essence a third eye on forhead, rather
it reflects the intellectual & intelligent state of mind as an extra
sensory perception, beyond the limits of physical organs. This reflects a
person's ability to sense and percieve extraordinarily using his 6th
sensory organ (ESP). Thus, it also reflects a person's intellectuality and
a sense of awareness. Since, these abilities are generally related to
brain (the frontal lobe of brain in forehead responsible for these type of
sensitivites, the cerebellum) it is branded as third eye, which is a
philosophical way of expression, also because the two eyes already exist
on forehead the ESP is loosely branded as third eye. In laymen term,
eyes give a sense of knowing something more than ay other organ, that is
why also the concept of third eye came to be known which a very commonly
concept in Hindu & Buddhist culture or philosophy.
5. Shortsighted and myopic and ignorant people only frame an opinion
too quickly, without knowing the facts,
