If there is any one religion that fully acknowledges the omnipresence of
the Absolute, it is Hinduism. The sacred sciptures of the Hindus state thus:

ekam sat, viprah bahuda vadanti

``There is one Absolute Truth. The learned speak of Him in many ways.''

The perspective of Hinduism, when looking and observing another religion,
is that a great learned teacher (viprah) has seen the Absolute from a
particular angle of vision and presented it in a way his people could
understand. There is no concept of us being the one, and all others are
useless. Every religion has elements of truth in it, as the object of
perception is the same Absolute Truth. This does not mean all visions are
equal, but all visions are focused on the same goal. As such, in Hinduism
there is no need to wage war to correct the infidels and pagans, as there
are in several other religions.

The difficulty in Hindu-Muslim relations comes in the fact that Muslims
do not have the same broad vision as stated in the above sanskrit verse.
The Hindus may look favourably upon the Muslims, but can the same be said
from the other side? For hundreds of years the Muslims have fought ``Holy
Wars'' against the Hindus in an attempt to convert the heathens to the
one true religion of Islam. For many, many years the Hindus tolerated the
suppression, some even converting to Islam under the pressure. But it is
quite understandable that even a peaceful group of people, such as
Hindus, may develop some dislike (for lack of a better word) towards
Islam for the very fact that they had been attacked time and time again
by its adherants. As such, though Hinduism accepts the validity of the
teachings of the great prophet mohamed, when his followers twist his
teachings to justify the abuse and enslavement of others, every Hindu
must stand up against the injustice. There are many mosques in India
where Hindus go to worship (for example the Wavar shrine on the way to
Sabarimalai), so it is not a matter of Hindus disliking Islam. But the
Muslims must discard their narrow minded vision of being the sole
representatives of God, all others being fit to be killed. When they give
up that evil vision, then there could be peace in the Indian
subcontinent. Until then they will rely on their Agni missile.
