Hindu youth growing up outside India always felt a strong desire to
discover our cultural ROOTS, a desire to understand and experience the
richness of Hindu culture and visit historical places in India.
To cater to these long felt needs of the Hindu Youth outside India, a
special program called ROOTS was launched in 1996 by the combined
efforts of many Hindu organizations in India. The program consist of a
residential camp for 5 days on the serene outskirts of Bangalore and a
guided tour to historical places for a week.
"INDIA IS NOT WHAT YOU READ OR WHAT YOU SEE.
INDIA IS WHAT YOU EXPERIENCE", was the remark by one of the participants.
WHAT WILL THE PROGRAM INCLUDE ?
* Visits to Historical sites.
* Introduction to Sanskrit conversation, Yoga and Meditation.
* Lecture-demonstrations on Philosophy, Music, Dance and rituals.
* Extensive interaction with highly qualified people in each field.
* Visit various community service activities in slums, handicapped
children centers, etc.
* A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE FRIENDS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD.
WHAT TOPICS WILL BE COVERED ?
* History of India.
* Understanding Today's India.
* Essence of Vedas, Upanishads and Gita.
* Hindu Gods and Goddesses, prayers, festivals and their significance.
* Contributions of Hindus in the fields of science, technology,
medicine, etc.
* Hindu paradigm for management, environment, economics, etc.
* Sanskrit conversation, Yoga & meditation.
WHAT PLACES DO WE VISIT ?
Some of the most attractive places in South India will be visited.
* Temples at Belur and Halebidu represent some of the most delicate and
intricate carvings reminiscent of Hoysala dynasty.
* Mysore is known for the grand royal palace and there are several
nearby places of interest like Brindavan Gardens & Sriranga pattana.
* Swami Vivekananda Rock Memorial at Kanyakumari is a source of
inspiration to all Hindus.
* Some of the following places will also be covered: Kanchipuram,
Tiruchi, Madhurai, Tiruvanantapuram, Guruvayur and Mahabalipuram.
WHAT ABOUT ACCOMMODATION ?
It will be residential camp in the scenic outskirts of Bangalore for
first 5 days. During the tour, you will get to stay with the local
families and enjoy the homely atmosphere and hospitality.

HOW MUCH DO I PAY ?
For the residential camp and also the guided tour to historical places,
total cost is only $250. This includes accommodation, food, and basic
medical facilities (A doctor will always be there).
You will have to take care of the round-trip fare to Bangalore.
