louis fischer s"life of mahatma gandhi" would give a good impression on
the way it is.so would the movie -gandhi

worships are of myriad kinds from the most sacrificious and ceremonial
to the simplest prayer in the heart.every hindu home has an alter and is
like the worshipping area in the house.
basiccaly the idea of idols and idoltry is for the less developed
principle who has to gain focus through the image ,just like a christian
would identify with a cross. nevertheless at the end hindu concepts in
all ways beleive in only ONE ULTIMATe GOD
the One god seen in many forms and variation
anyday is good for worship but temples have speacial hours for pooja
(they perform ablutions to the deity)
fridays and tusedays are special but at least once every month there is
a special fetive occasion

unlike the pope who is revered by all the catholics.
some swamis and yogis are well established to be mentioned.
eg:sivaya subramanya swami of kaui adheenam, hawaii
satya sai baba of puttaparthi india,
swami ypgananda of divine life society,
and multituedse of other organisation-ie:bhramo samaj,arya samaj,iskon
international soc.of krishna consious. etc etc

priest get to marry and lead a normal life.
> different sects of Hindus commonly lead by a local priest?
> yes.if there are any sects. which i know none. any hindu can go to any hindu temple and pray.
there is no barrier that a hindu sticks with a certain temple or he is
not allowed to another temple.hence a local priest can go on with
multitudes of sects doing his duty.
> 3) What are some of your favorite first and last names for Hindu men i am verry sorry am unable to awnser this Q. coz there are so many many names and none are in particular being very favorite though names vary according to regions in india.sotherners having disctinctly diff name compared to northerners

that is very much okay, knowledge is power, in fact learning about other
religions create tolerance towards them and fosters harmony.
all human wether of different creed should love all and help all.
christ said"love thy neighbor as thyself"
we are all afterall brethen of the same divine lordin other aspects
deities can be divided as follows
shiva ,vishnu&brahma
destroyer-preservor and creator
and their female aspects
parvati ,laxmi and saraswathi
goddess of strengh and courage, wealth and prosperity & goddeses of
science and education+knowledge
this goes on.

if you could do try to get informations on adi sankara(sankaracharya),
the bhagavad gita=bible of the hindus
and more .
