question about Hindu item

I was wondering about a Hindu / Indian object I've seen; it's made of brass, and it looks sort of like a free-standing doorjam. It consists of two horizontal poles with what appear to be incense dishes running up them and a horizontal beam across the top, joining the two poles. What is this item called, and what is it for? Is it a parapana?
