Namakarana is a name-giving ceremony whereby a name is selected for the child in accordance with scriptural procedures. Mundan ceremony is performed during first or the third year when the child’s hair is removed first time by shaving. Yes you should perform samskaras, if you wish to be a devout Hindu. Refer to chapter 33 of the book: The Hindu Mind, ISBN 0-9634798-1-4 or any other book on Hinduism that discusses Samskaras. You can also talk to any temple priest to find out which samaskaras would be appropriate to your situation.
