: If a Brahman were to teach a Shudra the Vedas, would the Brahman be punished? If so what would happen to both the Brahman and the Shudra?

: Thanks Wesley Murray

Response:
In Hindu religion, God does not punish anybody. He is too compassionate and merciful to punish any one. He has, however, established cosmic laws (Rita in the Vedic language), which include both physical and spiritual laws. Violation of the cosmic laws results in punishment to the violator, regardless of whether the violator is a saint or a sinner. The cosmic law that governs the human deeds is called Law of Karma, which simply means “As you sow, so shall you reap.” Giving knowledge (especially teaching the Vedas) is an act of supreme virtue, regardless of who teaches to whom. Thus, if a Brahman teaches the Vedas to Shudra, both will be supremely rewarded.
