Actually, original sin was that conceived in the Garden of Eden by Adam
and Eve when they broke god's law and ate of the forbidden fruit. So
you are close, but not exactly on target. And as for sin, I saw
somewhere else a rather vague understanding of the concept. Sin is any
act, physical or mental, that violates the laws of God, and not
necessarily man. Minor sins are those that occur every day and only
call for short stopovers in purgatory before entering heaven, major sins
are any that violate the ten commandments (thank Moses for no small
thing or there would have been a thousand commandments<G>).

But this is a discussion of Hinduism, and not necessarily of Christian
doctrine and belief except as they differ from each other, so on to my
topic.

I am no longer what one might call a Christian (surprise, surprise). I
have studied much of the bible and other religions and I find it hard
to place my religious beliefs. I have evolved a rather "different"
viewpoint of mankind.

In understanding the basics of physics, I understand the law that
dictates that throughout the universe there is a constant amount of mass
and energy, and that while one may be converted to the other, the
overall amount must remain constant. Of course this is usually defined
as E=MC2 (that should be squared<G>). So, I also understand that in the
human body there is both mass and energy. There is a measurable energy,
or aura, that surrounds each of us.

When we die, the flesh decays, but there is no mass conversion. The
energy that is that aura MUST go somewhere. It only makes sense that it
goes to another living thing. My thought though is that all living
things have that aura. Some things have stronger auras than others.
The amount of energy in a plant or insect would be less than that in a
dog or cat, etc.

It was my thought that to support life a minimum amount of energy is
required for any given creature. Therefore, the life force of a
dandelion could not support that of a cat. However ... as these
"packets" of energy float about waiting for more mass with which to
coexist, they come in contact with each other. Stronger life forces are
able to draw energy into themselves from weaker life forces and they
grow stronger. Thus the ability for higher species like man to grow
beyond their previous numbers. Stronger forces "attract" stronger forces
and they share in each other's energy, which is also sharing in their
life experiences.

As we go from one life experience to the next we grow more intelligent,
and the energy around us grows stronger. We can remember to an extent
and learn from past life experiences if we so chose. We can remember
long-time friends ... "touched" before.

I was wondering just how much my thoughts on life and death are similar
to the Hindu philosophies?
