   If I say, "I am proud to be a Muslim"
   They all say, "He is a man with an honest faith"

   If I say, "I am proud to be a Christian"
   They all say, "He is a good man with belief in his faith"

   If I say, "I am proud to be a Hindu"
   They all say, "He is a fundamentalist man with an ill placed faith"

   So, Now I have learnt.

   When they destroy a functioning temple;
   "It was just a house of stones", I have learned to say.

   When they destroy a non functioning mosque;
   "I am ashamed to be a Hindu", I have learned to say.

   When they write to ridicule people's belief in Lord Rama;
   "What Lord, Did he even exist", I have learned to say.

   When they write a fiction resembling a prophet of Allah;
   "Ban that Goddamned book, hang that author", I have learned to say.

   When they write 'Lojja' in the neighboring state;
   "We are no better, so be more ashamed", I have learned to say.

   When they loot and burn in reaction to death of a neighboring despot;
   "They are just venting the feelings of grief and dispair",
                                                 I have learned to say.

   When they want to raise the National flag on a public ground;
   "Shame on them for being incosiderate to feelings of Anjuman-E-Islam",
                                                    I have learned to say.

   Yes, I am ashamed  for this, ashamed for that;
   finally, ashamed for everything related to Hinduism,
                                         I have learned to say
