Police Arrest BJP Leader's Suspected Killer
A man suspected of involvement in the murder of an opposition
leader in Bombay two months ago was arrested in the southern
city of Bangalore, police said yesterday.
They said Firoze Kokni was arrested on charges of gunning down
Ramdas Naik, city chief of the main opposition Bharatiya Janata
Party.
Two men on a motorbike killed Naik and his police bodyguard
outside his home in a Bombay suburb on August 25.
A police spokesman said Kokni is believed to have acted on
behalf of an alleged smuggler based in Dubai who has real interests in
Bombay.
