Q: About (god) Brahma

Yesterday, an American friend surprized me with impressive knowledge of
our Indian culture and Mythology. He then asked me about the origin
of (god) Brahma -- the part about a lotus emerging from the navel. I
tried hard but realized I had totally forgotten a story I once knew so
well. I still have not been able to recall the exact story and feel sad
that I am forgetting my traditions with no way to keep in touch. I
hope this news group is able to help.

Could somebody please (re) tell me the exact story. I would appriciate
if you also emailed me a copy of your reply post.

P.S. He also had another explaination for why Brahma has no Temples or
worship. I recalled a different story from my childhood. What are the
various reasons (stories) behind this? Thanks for your time and help.
