Soap Operas shown on STAR TV .....
dear netters,
The quality of the soap operas beamed by STAR TV, by and large
are lousy, by any standards. The 'elite' educated indians sit and stare
the idiot box with the pre-conceived irreversible notion that they are
the best made programmes in the world. They have deceived themselves into
believing that they are the best in the world, when they are not worth a
glance.
The point that amazes is that people watch the soap operas with great
interest when that has nothing to do with their culture and their lifestyle..
in short nothing to do with nothing.. but waste their precious time watching
some "junk" soap operas.
It is really gladdening to note that Doordarshan is starting a
24 hour channel. It is time DD starts producing well documented programs
about Indian culture and values taking the cue from the other GIANT networks.
There is one other cue that DD can take from them. Potray the Indian
culture as the best and the other ones as "barbaric" and unevolved.
With the foolishness of the Indian society at its very heights, DD
should do something to reverse it and make people feel more at home with
Indian culture and Indian values.
I know it is going hurt a lot of my countrymen to read this article
of mine.. but.. it is a fact...
