Re: Followers of Sankaracarya, please take no
Before I read Srila Prabhupada's Gita, I was named Shiva by my previous
Guru, Dr. Ramamurti Mishra. Prabhupada convinced me that Sankaracharya
was a Vaishnava in disguise, and that his impersonal philosophy was
actually meant to reinstate the study of the Vedas. At the end of his
life, Sankaracarya advocated Krishna Bhakti: "Bhaja Govinda, Bhaja
Govinda". In his poem in praise of the Gita (I think it is called the
Gitavali) Sankaracharya paraphrases a famous quote from the Puranans:
mukham karoti vacalam
pangum langhayate girim
yat kripa tam amam vande
paramandanda madhavam
A dumb man can become of poet
A lame man can cross the maintains
All this is possible by the mercy of the Lord I worship
The all Blissful Madhava, Husband of the Goddess of Fortune.
Your trully,
Madhavadasa Dasa
