Namaste! I had a dream many years ago that was quite mystically and
personally prophetic for me. In it simply, a woman came up to me (the
appearance and feeling of the time that the scenario was is classic Vedic
antiquity) and told me, simply, "I serve Vayu." The night before, I had a
dream that was rather puzzling. I dreamt that I met my guru. And all I
remember of it was, that first I saw him transform into a beautiful young
boy with the most loving amazing eyes as he sat at his guru seat in front
of whatever sangha I was part of there, and the second was one word that
I heard at the same time. It was something that sounded like D'Ari or
T-aari or something like that.
I must also mention those two nights, I was sleeping directly
above two 3 foot tall quartz crystals in the room below. But I digress...
Several weeks later, at a spiritual gathering (this was the
Dances of Universal Peace as introduced by the American Sufi Murshid
Samuel Lewis, in Boulder Colorado USA) I mentioned these two dreams
somehow to someone there. We had been talking about Neem Karoli Baba,
whose life I had become familiar with by the works of Baba Ram Dass,
noted author and teacher, currently of the Seva Foundation. Well, what I
found out made my head spin: Vayu was the Vedic wind god, and Hanuman's
father. And Neem Karoli Baba was often thought of as Hanuman, a great Ram
bhakti full of humor and siddhis and love and thoughts of selfless
service (Seva). And, the word D'ari sounded very much like the name,
Tewari, an older man who was one of Neem Karoli Baba's closest devotees.
And my world spinned around for a moment and I felt this touch in
my heart of some great love...and I felt the living darshan of Neem
Karoli Baba and it was unmistakable. No matter he had died 12 years
prior... as Maharraji (NKB) once told someone upon seeing a woman
earnestly praying for assistance at a murti of Shridi Sai Baba, the
earnestness of the heart of a devotee overcomes the barriers of time,
life, and death, and the guru's heart reaches out to the chela's. I
believe it, it keeps happening to me in the most wonderful, magical, and
sometimes humorous ways.
Anyway, I would love to hear more about Vayu. There just isnt
much in the English languange about Vayu, save the story of how Vayu
proved himself to be the most important and vital of the Vedic elemental
Gods when He showed how if he refused to be present the very breath of
life would be cut off...and as all great mystic traditions would say,
"the breath is the key to life and the key to mystical awakening"
Acha....
