LECTURE/DISCUSSION: A special lecture/discussion on the relationship
between spirituality, happiness, and getting a
college education.
GUEST SPEAKER: Swamiji Siddeshvari Devi
About the speaker: Siddeshvari Devi, affectionately called Didi Ji is a
disciple of Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj. Didi
Ji was born in Punjab, India, and was raised in Canada
from the age of 1. She acquired secondary education,
and then graduated from York University, Toronto with
a B.A. Honours degree in Translation (French to English)
with a minor in Spanish.
After completing her education, she had the opportunity
to listen to religious lectures which had a profound
effect on her. She was particularly impressed by the
teachings of Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, whom
she later accepted as her Spritual Master.
Didi Ji made a trip to India and stayed for two years
at the ashram of her Gurudev in Mangarh, near the holy
city of Allahadbad. She then returned to Canada as a
preacher of her Master's philosophy. Besides Canada,
she preached in the U.S.A., Trinidad, and Holland.
Didi Ji's philosophy is based on the Vedas, the Puranas,
the Gita, Ramayan and a number of other scriptures, not
only of Hinduisum but of other religions too.
Having gone through a period of confusion regarding
Hinduism and sprituality in general, she sympathizes
with children and young adults who need to get their
questions answered.
She feels that lack of Hindi should not become an
obstacle in the path of true understanding. It is
for this reason that Didi Ji preaches mostly in English,
although she is good in speaking in Hindi also.
