The influence of Kali Yuga has perverted ideas that were not passed down
through an authentic guru-cishya parampara. This is why so many adharmic
ideas (like meat-eating) have appeared. In reality, these ideas probably
reflect the personal bias of the translator, who often is not a bona fide
spiritual master.
Soon, we will have the next few kaandas of the Ramayanam by Karnamrita
Dasa Gosvami, one of Swami Srila Prabhupada's disciples. We shall see if
any mention is made of meat-eating, but I doubt it.
