What I said was that the purpose of life in this world is to
eradicate from our hearts the envy that brought us here. The
best way to do this, according to sastra, is to chant the Hare
Krsna maha-mantra in an offenseless manner. This is not the only
path, but the sastra does confirm this as the easiest and most
efficacious path, especially in this confused day and age in
which few of us have many spiritual qualifications. The benefits
of other paths are also natural consequences of developing pure
bhakti, which is completely spiritual, untouched by maya, of the
nature of sat-cit-ananda; and it is ultimately the eternal
constitution of the jivatma. This bhakti is the result of proper
chanting of the maha-mantra, and it is fully satisfying and in
fact, dynamic.
