Would you be able to supply some authoritative reference that
upholds this idea? All due respect, but it sounds to me like
you are yourself espousing a 'belief' or 'opinion.'

But I think we are all experienced enough to recognize that
it doesn't work. On the other hand, bhakti, which you have
minimized is extremely practical, and very pleasing as well.
Further, the authoritative sastras confirm that although there
are other paths, they are not at all equal to bhakti in terms
of their respective results. Narada Muni, the sage of even the
devatas, confirms that the essential 'active ingredient' of
other paths is in fact bhakti. The effect of a given path, and
hence its status, is determined by the degree to which bhakti is
manifest in it, either purely or alloyed to some degree.
I would be interested to hear your response to this.

This points to another advantage of bhakti. By developing
a transcendental attachment to Sri Hari and His loving service,
one automatically uproots the tendency for fruitive action
(karma) in this world. Liberation is a concommittent and natural
result of pure bhakti.
