Maybe this is a technicality, but when 'karma' is completely
selfless, it is no longer 'karma,' but is then instead called
'akarma.' Akarma is performed on the liberated platform; it
has no result at all in this world. But when 'karma' is
sinful, that is, when an act is performed without the sanction
of guru, sadhu, and sastra, it is then called 'vikarma.' This
leads to lower and hellish conditions of rebirth. 'Karma,' in
the strict sense of the term, leads to higher births in this
material world. These three are discussed in the Gita, Ch. 14.
