All India meet on common civil code on July four

New Delhi, June 4 (PTI): An all India conference on the common civil
code will be organised here on July four in the wake of recent supreme
court verdict advising the government to enact a civil law applicable to
all communities in the country.
The conference is being convened by the Jamiat Ulema-I-Hind, a
central body of muslim theologians, in a bid to build up public opinion on
the issue, a jamiat spokesman said here today.
The working committee of Jamiat, at a meeting held at Moradabad on
Thursday, said the apex court judges in the case were influenced more by
the surrondings rather than by demands of law and justice.
The Jamiat spokesman said any proposal to change or amend the Muslim
prsonal law would amount to an ''interference'' in the religion of
Muslims.
