Namaste!
I use several Jyotish (Hindu, Vedic astrology) programs in
my practice. Essentially, a Jyotish program is used to perform all
the calculations cecessary to produce the numerous charts and
tables that are required -- the Rashi, Navaunsh, Bhav Chakr(as),
Varg(as), Ashtakvarg calculations, Shad Bal, Dasha-Bhukti tables,
etc. However, no software is yet advanced enough to interpret the
charts and generate predictive reports with acceptable accuracy and
reliability. Jyotish programs vary in price from a couple of
hundred dollars to several thousand, but a package in the $300-500
range is usually adequate for most purposes. I am not aware of any
freeware or shareware products that are capable of generating all
the charts that a professional Jyotishi requires. Please write if
you require more information, indicating the operating system for
which the program is sought. There are excellent programs for DOS,
Windows and Mac systems.
