Bhaja Govindam

There have been some statements that SrIpAda SaNkarAcArya had instructed
his followers to chant the names of SrI Govindadeva, so in response to
those false claims, I am providing this article.

Manytimes ISKAN followers make the statement that SaNkara actually said
"chant the names of Govinda", but this is only the preliminary meaning for
those who do not know proper sanskrit. Those who are actually vidvAns will
see past this supposed duality an d understand the deeper meaning of the
satement "bhaja govinda". THis can be analysised as follows:

bha is a derivitave of "bhaji" (eggplant)
ja is a derivitive of "jala" (water)
go is a derivitive of "ghee" (used for chaunce)
vi is a derivitive of "vadu" (people)
da is a derivitive of "duh, its all one."

So the sattement made by SaNkarAcArya actually means that one should take
the "eggplant Brahman" boil it in the "water Brahman". Then you should add
the "chaunce Brahman" and distribute it to the "people Brahman". This is
the natural conclusion of the sat ement "bhaja govinda". SInce the world
is mithyA, it naturally follows that this is the proper "action Brahman".

Special emphasis should be given to the for "vadu" which indicates
_common_ people. It does not refer to everyone. A more accurate
translation in english would be "all those Gods lying in the street."

I hope this article will once and for all put an end to this nasty rumor
that SrIpAda SaNkarAcArya has ever instructed anyone to chant the holy
names of Govinda. After all, it is that very "eggplant Brahman" that you
are seeking.

Hari Om.
