pretty Indian festivals. It is a festival of joy, spledour,
brightness and happiness. The uniqueness of this festival is
its harmony of five varied philosophies, which each day to a
special thought or ideal. If we celebrate each of its five
days of festivities with true understanding, it will uplift
and enrich our lives. Diwali is a time when every establishment
is illuminated with "Deeps"- oil lamps and every heart is
filled with joy. Delighted children set off fireworks in the
spirit of festival. Diwali is the last day of the last month of
lunar calendar.

The five day celebration of Diwali begins with Dhanteras.
Dhanteras, the day to worship Laxmi, the Godess of wealth.

The second day is celebrated as Kali Chaudas, the day to worship
Kali, the Godess of Strength. The day to abolish laziness and
evil which create hell in our life and shine light on life.

Diwali is the festival of lights. Thousands of lamps are lit
in and outside every home and at all facilities on the day.
We forget our enemies and jealousy, to lighten the path of
life is done by ligths. Its the last day of the year 2051.

New Year 2052 starts on this day. We make good habits and
remove anger, hatred, envy, jealousy and callouseness. Start
new year with new beginning.

On Bhai Beej, brother goes to sister's family. It is the day
to respect all the females as your sister or mother. And to
develope descipline to look at all of the female race as your
mother or sister on that day. Also, there is a day in August
called Raxa Bandhan, a day sister goes to brothers' or parents
home. Sister ties a raxa (made out of thread) with love and
brother gives a token gift and promises to respect and protect
her. These days symbolizes the society's respect for all women,
gives every man the noble outlook to consider every woman as
mother or sister.
