Dear Ms. Napolitana:
There are various verses that are commonly said as mealtime prayer, a
common one is the verse from the Srimad Bhagavad Gita.
BrahmArpanam Brahmahavi BrahmAgnou BrahmanAhutam
Brahmoiva tena gantavyam Brahmakarma SamAdhina. 4.24
Another common verse is
HaridAtA HaribhoktA.....
(I do not know this one by heart)
Still another one is
Annam Brahma raso Vishnu bhotkA DevaJanArdana
Iti vijnAya yo bhunkte annadoshah na vidyate.
To my knowldege, the most common mealtime prayer is usually not a
definite verse. It usually is a statement of offering the food to God
prior to eating. Some do it to make his food sanctified, and some do it
as part of worship. The latter is more common.
With best regards,
Dhruba.
