Well, I hope we can distinguish between "fighting" and "discussing." In any
case, Lord Krishna does state in the Gita that the various other deities are
partial representations of Him. However, He also states:
ye 'py anya-devataa-bhaktaa
yajante s'raddhayaanvitaaH
te 'pi maam eva kaunteya
yajanty avidhi-puurvakam
"Those who are devotees of other gods and who worship them with faith actually
worship only Me, O son of Kunti, but they do so in a wrong way." (Gita 9.32)
Note the words avidhi-puurvakam, which clearly indicate that such worship is
misdirected. This is not a sectarian issue, because it is there in the Gita,
which all major schools of Hinduism accept (or claim to accept).
Actually, I am not bothered by the fact that people do not accept this idea,
that Narayana is the Supreme Lord. I personally am bothered by the fact that
people claim to accept such scriptures as the Gita, while saying that worship
of Shiva and Vishnu is the same. The scripture clearly indicates otherwise,
and those who do not wish to accept such an idea should simply admit that they
do not believe in the Vedic literatures like the Bhagavad-Gita.
