Re: Mitra




Mitra is indeed a "Hindu god". Mitra is a personification of the sun, and 
is of the older generation of "gods" called the Asuras. Mitra, as well as 
Varuna, (the two are often represented together) were borrowed into the 
Iranian religions where Varuna comes to be the Zoroastrian God, Ahura Mazda.

As for accounts of Mitra, any compendums of Vedic literature will tell 
you about his nature, which are metaphysical, spiritual, and ritual.
