What am I if Iam a " Hindu" by religion?
Hi!First I should tell you that I have not contemplated the Hindu
religion in depth. Nor have I studied it in enough detail to venture to
debate on its central tenets.I have accepted the religion of my
forefathers and fore"mothers"(Is that correct?)as my own.
I have studied various texts for twelve years in school, college etc...The
Gita...The Vedas ...the upanishads to name a few.
But what does hinduism really mean to me as a person? Iam a simple person
with simplistic ideas. To me it means comfort to live as I wish and know
the presence of God.It means that I can hear Suprabhatam and Bhaja
Govindam and feel happy and rejenuvated. To me it means the sanctity and
serenity of temples and the lapping of the village pond on its side...the
archanay and the puja and the namaskaram..
To me my religion means the confidence that Iam not on my own and that
God is with me.It means faith in basic human decency and good.
And Iam happy with being Hindu...Whatever that means to society this
means being myself to me!
