Christmas is celebrated on different days. In the U.S.,
as elsewhere, celebrations begin several weeks ahead of
December 25, mostly in the form of drunken office
parties. Research into why the religious observance of
Christmas has evolved to be on December 25, and its
relationship to extra-Christian festivals such as
Saturnalia is left as an exercise for the reader.

description. This year, the moment of Amaavasya is
calculated as November 11, 9:50 a.m., Delhi time.
