REQUEST : Survey For My Sociology Class
For Members of the Clergy:
My name is Douglas Odom and I am a non-traditional (39 years old and
finally going back to school) student at Anson Community College in
Polkton, North Carolina. One of the classes I am taking is Sociology and
from time-to-time we have survey projects to conduct as part of our class
curriculum.
One of the things I have endeavored to do in conducting my survey projects
is to incorporate my love of computers and the Internet with my studies (I
am a Business Computer Programming Major), thus the placement of this
survey in this newsgroup.
Our final project concerns the prevailing attitudes regarding AIDS,
specifically the attitudes within various religious communities. I would
like to invite you, as a member of the clergy to participate in this
survey.
I do want to allay any fears you may have concerning confidentiality. All
responses to the survey will be read by only me and my instructor. In past
surveys I have conducted utilizing newsgroups, several people have worried
about whether I am conducting some kind of scam. I assure you that this is
no scam. For verification purposes, please feel free to call long-distance
information for the area code (704), town of Polkton and verify that Anson
Community College does exist. Further, you may call the college to verify
that this project is legitimate. Ask for Ms. Winnie Bennett who is my
Sociology instructor, as well as head of the Social Services Program at the
college. Again, confidentiality is assured.
The instructions for the survey are pretty simple and straightforward.
Complete the statistical information and then answer the three questions
posed. After completion of the survey, you may email the information
directly to me at: ncbear@vnet.net
Only responses received by November 15, 1996 will be included in my final
analysis.

scientific research in
general and about AIDS and treatment of persons with AIDS in
