The number 108 seems to be very important in Hinduism.  A rudraksha mala 
of 108 beads is said to be auspicious.  At the pilgrimage temple at 
Muktinath, Nepal, 108 pipes deliver water to the pool.  Pilgrims walk 
around touching each flow and then touching hand to head.  Can anyone 
give me an explanation or a reference?
