Re: Why the good are not spared...
I thank those who have responeded to my previous posting.
The question regarding sparing the good should be understood
within a context, and that context pertains to certain
interviews given by Sai Baba which I recently read. In
these interviews, various miracles that he performed to
help those devoted to him were mentioned (e.g., healing,
saving from drowning, etc.) I am mostly ignorant
about most religious teachings, and BECAUSE I find his message
and all the stories surrounding him quite interesting, I am
trying to question some of these things. There are too many
"spiritual" crooks around, and so I try to be critical.
(I realize that rationality may not be the right tool, but
that's what I have now). So my real question was, what
distinguishes those that God or Sai Baba help from those
which he does not help. My question was: if devotion to god
is the reason people are helped, then definitely many devoted were
not helped (at least physically).
Some people's explanation were basically, help in this material
life is not what is important. I am not saying that it is.
But since such help was described by Sai Baba and attributed to
devotion, the question naturally arises.
Thanks,
Ronen
