The reverse seems to be the case for gaNesha. In TN he said to be a
brahmachaari, while in the North he is portrayed with 2 wives. Also skanda is
supposed to have another wife, deivayaanai.

There is also lot of symbolism associated with his spear (vEl). I forgot the
details :-).
The name devasenaapati occurs in the 108 names also. Another detail I forgot
to mention is that the 6 faced rudraaksha is special for skanda upaasakas. The
number of faces in the usual rudraakshas is 5.
Thanks for the article on the symbolism associated with skanda. I have read a
thamiz skanda puraaNam a long time back. Unfortunately the book is back in
India and I have forgotten all the stories. I'll try to get it the next time I
go to India, but that won't be in the near future though.
BTW, in which book did you read these details?
